GRANT GODDARD: STAGE MANAGER
as though Iʼve won the lottery”. – Grant Goddard
Grant Goddard grew up in the small town of Los Alamos, NM. His love for technology,
innovation, and sound engineering was most likely passed down from his great
grandfather Ralph Willis Goddard, the famous radio and broadcast pioneer, who in the
1920ʼs created the most powerful and influential radio station west of the Mississippi.
Between the age of 2 and 3 Grant developed a strong fascination with all things electronic, a
curiosity that ultimately led to him taking apart most of his familyʼs household
appliances. Shortly after, at 6 years old he realized his love for music and music
production, as he vividly remembers the first album his parents bought him, Michael
Jacksonʼs Thriller. “I was overwhelmed by the sound coming through the speakers …
but what was most memorable for me was carefully studying the cover & liner notes in
detail and being completely amazed at all the people involved and their roles necessary
to create such a magical experience.”
Throughout childhood and teenage years, Grant dabbled in musical instruments such
as trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar, and played drums and percussion in his high
school marching band. After high school, he moved to Los Angeles, CA to further
pursue his dreams. He attended Musicians Institute where he excelled and earned degrees in both Audio Engineering and Guitar Performance.
Grant was drawn into the world of live sound. He gained experience and moved through the ranks taking various gigs throughout Southern
California ranging from small clubs to large outdoor music festivals. During this time he worked with multiple artists including Slash, Myles Kennedy, Fergie, Smashing Pumpkins, Neon Trees, Luciano, Elan
Atias, Mos Def, and many more.
In 2013 Grant moved to Nashville, TN and started his own recording studio, Old Hickory
Recording Company. Since then, he has had the pleasure of working and recording with
greats such as: Chris Rodriguez, Michael Lusk, Jeff King, Brent Mason, Lonnie Wilson,
Buddy Miller, Craig Wright, Tom Bukovac, Buddy Hyatt, F Reid Shippen, Matt Serletic,
Ryan Hewitt, Randy Kohrs, and Nathan Dantzler… As well as contributing to Alanʼs
latest album, “The Secret”, as a recording engineer.
Grant has been a production team member of the Alan Parsons Live Project since early 2018.
